Worst Tablet EVER!!!!!!!

As many of you know we recently were told that Matthew is Autistic, his Occupational Therapist suggested to my husband and I that we get him a tablet to take everywhere with us. We noticed that sometimes when he was upset or having a meltdown distracting him with our phones helped. Matthew loves the Toca Boca apps that his OT suggested to us so I knew that I had to get one that would allow these apps on there.

So the hunt started. I found the Zeepad KIDS 7" 4GB Android 4.4 Quad Core Five Point Multi Touch Tablet PC , Kids Edition, Black on Amazon. I looked at a few different tablets on Amazon, but this one caught my eye. I thought it looked cute and kid friendly. I also noticed that it said it was a kid’s tablet. This is exactly what I was looking for.

I was also excited about the price. Being as we have to live on a very tight budget, I thought that this would be a great option until we could afford to get another one.

Well let me tell you how wrong I was. In no WAY SHAPE OR FORM is this KIDS tablet! When I think Kids I think the ages of 2 to about 10.

Right off the bat I knew when I got it something was wrong. I opened the booklet and usually you will have a page or two showing where all the buttons are and what they do NOPE not with this one. It just dives right in to telling you to plug in the charger. (The charger that is another thing I will get to later)

The next thing that I noticed is that there are some automatic downloads that you MUST have on this tablet, trust me I tried to delete them but no matter what I tried they just kept saying I had to update them and re add them back to the tablet. Another frustrating thing about these MANDATORY Apps is that they take up what little space this tablet has. (We will get into that later) They are as follows:

  • Facebook: ok I know that just about everything and everyone is on Facebook but I’m sorry I don’t think that my 3year old needs to be on Facebook. If this had been an optional app I would have been fine with that.

  • YouTube: ok yea as great as YouTube is there are some things that I do not want my 3 year old to see, most of which is on YouTube.

  • Skype; again this would have been great if it was not a MANTDORY app

  • Twitter: yea my 3 year old has a twitter account (NOT)

  • Netflix: ok yea this is a pretty good app but we don’t have a membership so its pretty useless to us.

  • Talking Tom Cat: umm what is this???

My next point is the memory; you can only put a 32G memory card in the tablet. Ok that may be ok for some but I still would like to have the 64G one that I have be useful and not have to go out and buy another one. The mandatory apps on this tablet take up so much space that after downloading 3 apps for my son it became so bogged down that the tablet would not run.

The camera on this tablet is very poor quality. my husband cheep $20 Wal-Mart cell phone takes better pictures. My son could not get it switched around so he could use the camera on the back to take pictures.

There are two ways to charge this table one is a normal charger cord that you would use with most android tablets, the second is more of an auxerily cord like charger, that charger is the “home” charger. I have no idea about how good the battery life is on here because it was up and running a total of maybe an hour before I discovered the MAJOR problems. I just cannot recommend this tablet to anyone really. Not even for an older child because of the memory issues and the camera quality.

While the gel case that the tablet comes with was cute this was the only thing going for this tablet.

As I am typing this my husband is boxing back up the tablet to be sent back to Amazon because this is not a KIDS tablet please do NOT waste your time with this tablet. I do understand that you get what you pay for but for almost 50 bucks I really wasn’t expecting to not be able to use this because of all the issues it has. I really wish I could give these tablet 0 stars because it is nothing more than a paper weight.

So now again the hunt starts…

Bellow is the link to the tablet on amazon if you want to look but like i said before its pretty much a paperweight.
