He Marches to The Beat of His Own Drum
Today we had an appointment with Behavioral Health
.
Many of you know the struggles that we have had with Matthew. Most people chucked the problems up to Matthew having Sensory Processing Disorder, but Joe and I knew that there had to be something else to it.
Today we got the news that Matthew has Autism because of his age we have to take him to another study center and get the official “insurance” diagnosis.
As tears are rolling down my face right now it’s not because Matthew has Autism, it’s because now I know that we will be able to help him better. We will be able to maybe understand a little better why Matthew does some of the things he does. We can be better prepared for outings and meltdowns.
I don’t exactly know what is ahead of us but I know that we can only become a stronger family. We always say that Matthew “Marches to the beat of his own drum” and this will never change. He will always be his own person with his own quarks that he does. We will always love him even when he is having a meltdown, we will just now know how to love him better and help him get through his meltdowns.
